I have received information about where I will be living in Madagascar!
I will be living in Fianarantsoa. It is in south central Madagascar about 180 miles from Antananarivo, the capital; you can check out the map. Fianar is an intellectual center for the island, there is a university named after that town there as well. Fianar is also the capital of wine in Madagascar for the many wine industries. I will be living at a Lutheran school in a Malagasy community there. I will likely be working at that school and/or at a Lutheran school for deaf children nearby. I will be in my own apartment, and my neighbors will be other people who work at the school. I am very excited about living in Fianar because there is so much focus on education; and I am excited to, hopefully, spend a lot of time working in schools.
As I prepare to leave just one month from today, I am very busy. I have been spending time with family and friends and preparing things to start packing. It is difficult to not start packing things now; I am so excited to head to Chicago for orientation. Now that I know where I am headed in Madagascar, I just want to arrive and begin my journey even more!
I hope all of you reading are having a wonderful summer!
Thanks for reading!
